For your convenience, I’ve put together a list of some of the most common questions I am asked and their respective answers. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, drop me a line and I’ll do my best to get you the information as soon as possible.

1 / What is chiropractic care?

Chiropractic care is a holistic healthcare approach that focuses on diagnosing, treating, and preventing musculoskeletal issues, primarily those related to the spine and nervous system. Chiropractors use hands-on adjustments and other techniques to promote natural healing and overall wellness

2 / What conditions can chiropractic care help with?

Chiropractic care can be effective for a wide range of conditions, including back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica, joint pain, and more. It can also improve general health and well-being.

3 / Is chiropractic care safe?

Chiropractic care is generally considered safe when performed by a licensed and trained chiropractor. They use precise techniques to minimize risks, and the majority of patients experience relief without complications.

4 / What can I expect during a chiropractic appointment?

During your first visit, I will conduct a thorough evaluation, which may include a discussion of your medical history and a physical examination. Treatment often involves spinal adjustments and other manual therapies tailored to your specific needs.

5 / Does chiropractic care hurt?

Chiropractic adjustments are typically not painful, although you may hear a popping or cracking sound, similar to when you crack your knuckles. Most patients find the treatment to be relieving and comfortable. Chiropractic care is a manual therapy, so some discomfort may be experienced during and/or after a treatment. This is moreso associated with any of the soft-tissue interventions I employ. This is completely normal and is commonly referred to as DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness).

6 / How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions needed varies based on your condition and individual factors. I will discuss a personalized treatment plan with you to address your specific health goals.

7 / Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

In most cases, you do not need a referral to see a chiropractor. You can schedule an appointment directly with our clinic.

8 / Do chiropractors work with other healthcare providers?

Chiropractors often collaborate with other healthcare professionals when necessary. This multidisciplinary approach ensures the best possible care for patients.

9 / Is chiropractic care covered by insurance?

Many insurance plans cover chiropractic care to some extent. It's advisable to check with your insurance provider to understand your coverage and any out-of-pocket costs.

10 / How can I maintain the benefits of chiropractic care at home?

I will provide guidance on exercises, stretches, and lifestyle changes to support your progress between appointments. Following my advice can help you maintain the benefits of chiropractic care.

11 / What qualifications should I look for in a chiropractor?

When choosing a chiropractor, ensure they are licensed, experienced, and have a good reputation. You can also ask for referrals and read reviews to gauge their quality of care. There are many styles of chiropractic. In my practice, I am very inclusive of addressing the soft-tissues and do not maintain a centric approach on manipulation therapy alone.

12 / Are chiropractic adjustments suitable for children and seniors?

Chiropractic care can be safe and beneficial for individuals of all ages, from infants to seniors. The approach is adapted to the unique needs of each patient.

13 / Can chiropractic care help with sports injuries?

Chiropractic care can be effective in treating and preventing sports-related injuries. Many athletes use chiropractic services to improve performance, flexibility, and overall well-being.

14/Are chiropractic adjustments suitable during pregnancy?

Chiropractic care is often sought by pregnant women to alleviate discomfort and promote a healthy pregnancy. Chiropractors use gentle techniques that are safe for expectant mothers.

15 / How soon can I expect to feel improvement after chiropractic treatment?

The speed of improvement varies depending on the condition and individual factors. Some patients experience immediate relief, while others may take several sessions to notice significant changes.

16 / Are X-rays or MRIs necessary for chiropractic treatment?

X-rays and/or MRIs may be recommended in certain cases to provide a more accurate diagnosis. I will only order these advanced imaging studies if they are essential for your care and safety.

17 / Can chiropractic care treat chronic conditions like arthritis?

Chiropractic care can help manage the symptoms of chronic conditions like arthritis by improving joint mobility and reducing pain. Unfortunately, no therapy can reverse conditions such as arthritis. Chiropractic is often used as a complementary therapy alongside traditional medical treatment and exercise.

18 / Do you provide nutritional advice as part of chiropractic care?

Some chiropractors offer nutritional counseling as part of their holistic approach to healthcare. They can provide guidance on dietary choices that support your overall well-being. In my practice, as I have interprofessional relationships with more qualified clinicians in the area of nutrition, I often refer out for such advice.

19 / How long will my appointment be?

Initial chiropractic consultations and new complaint evaluations are scheduled for 40 minutes. Subsequent treatment visits are 20 minutes.

20 / Can chiropractic care help with posture improvement?

Chiropractic adjustments and postural advice can help improve posture and reduce discomfort associated with poor posture, such as back and neck pain.

21 / What  should I wear for my visit?

Loose fitting clothing is frequently recommended for examinations and treatment. Many individuals opt to bring or wear their own comfortable clothing to facilitate the evaluation and treatment of the injured area.

22 / Is it necessary to continue chiropractic care after my symptoms improve?

Chiropractic care can be used preventatively to maintain your health and prevent future issues, even after your symptoms have improved. The need to continue care after your symptoms improve depends on several factors.  The following factors must be considered:

Here are some things to consider:

  1. Preventative Care: Chiropractic care can help prevent the recurrence of symptoms or new issues by maintaining proper spinal alignment. Even after your initial symptoms improve, continuing care may be necessary to prevent future problems.

  2. Long-Term Health: Chiropractic care isn't solely about symptom management; it's also about promoting overall health and wellness. Regular adjustments can contribute to improved posture, better mobility, and a healthier spine and nervous system.

  3. Lifestyle Factors: Your lifestyle, including factors like your occupation, physical activity level, and stress, can impact your spinal health. If your daily activities put stress on your spine, regular chiropractic care may help mitigate the negative effects.

  4. Chronic Conditions: If you have a chronic condition, such as scoliosis or ongoing lower back pain, chiropractic care may be a long-term part of your pain management and wellness plan.

  5. Individual Needs: The need for ongoing care varies from person to person. Your chiropractor will assess your individual case and provide recommendations based on your specific needs and goals.
